Job Description

Summary: 
 This individual is responsible for planning, designing, installing and maintaining  internal network and security systems.  The Network Security Engineer is responsible for supporting a high availability network with zero downtime for each physically segmented leg of our network. The Network Security Engineer will be responsible for the security of network communications and company systems.  Expert experience with the following partners Cisco, F5, and Palo Alto is highly desired. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, working with other team members to complete highly complex projects and deployments.
Additional Duties Include
• Managing security systems at all levels of the business ranging from network devices to servers.• Monitoring of LAN infrastructure activity and performance for identifying potential security, speed, and performance utilizing LAN, QoS, VLAN, IOS, Netflow and SNMP.• Installing and configuring networking resources such as LAN switches, DHCP servers, WAN accelerator devices etc.• Developing and producing system model and system architecture plans and designs, test plans, implementation plans, operation guides, and overall subject matter expertise for enterprise network solutions.• Utilizing available network troubleshooting tools, including network packet captures, monitoring devices, and log files to facilitate effective issue resolution.• Provide Tier 3 support for advanced troubleshooting of network or systems related issues.• Working with the Director of Infrastructure and CIO to define the network strategy, infrastructure, and system model to support further growth of the business.• Undertaking both projects and steady-state activities.• Occasional travel between sites for upgrades and installations.• Perform other duties as assigned/required
Skills Required
• Excellent knowledge of voice and data networking principles• Network Security, including core and endpoint solutions (NAC/802.1x)• Proficiency in data security and vulnerability remediation• Experience with security auditing techniques and intrusion detection• Cisco switches and routers: 3K, 7K Catalyst series IOS, Nexus• Ethernet technologies: spanning tree, vlans, trunking, channeling, multilayer switching• WAN technologies: MPLS• IP routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, RIP, HSRP• Cisco Next Generation Firewalls, Cisco Aironet• Palo Alto Firewalls - Panorama• Cisco Firepower – recommended• Loadbalancers - F5, KEMP, Netscalers - recommendedPersonal Attributes

Formal Education and Certification:
  BS in Management Information System, Computer Science or a comparable technical degree.  Cisco CCNP or CISSP Certification preferred.
